Problem with that? OK! Let’s make it clear that what is MSWMM file and what formats YouTube supports at first, then the guide will help you solve the problem.

Note: What is MSWMM file?

MSWMM file is a Windows Movie Maker project file. It contains movie timeline, images and other movie features. which helps you to return editing or modifying movies later. However, it is not a video file and you couldn’t directly upload it to YouTube.

Tip: YouTube acceptable files

YouTube is a video-sharing website on which you could upload, share videos. It supports video files in most container fomats, including AVI, MP4, FLV, WMV, MOV, etc. More than that, keep in mind that your uploading video is limited to 10 minutes in length, 2GB in size.

Tutorials on how to convert MSWMM file to YouTube

Step 1: Open the MSWMM file with Windows Movie Maker.

Step 2: Click the menu of "File"-> "Save Movie File", then save it to "My Computer".

Tip: Don’t click "Save Project" or "Save Project As", it will save the file as MSWMM file, rather than video.

Step 3: After choose the file location, it will automatically save the file as WMV file. Optionally, you could also select "other settings" to save the file as AVI file.

Step 4: Upload the WMV/AVI file to your YouTube account.
