Many Mac users are curious about how to get their TV shows, movies, and video files into a format that the iPod can play.I recommend using a freeware tool called iSquint. ISquint is a Mac-only program that can help youconvert DVDs and other video files into formats that will play on your iPod. This guide will show you how to use iSquint to create iPod video. If you also want to convert DVD to iPod, you might want to check outiMedia Converter for Mac.
1. Download iSquint Though iSquint has been discontinued, you can download it frommacupdate orbuild iSquint by yourself using Techspansion’s open source. 2. Install iSquint Double click the .dmg you downloaded and drag the iSquint icon into the applications folder on your finder sidebar. Install iSquint 3. Drag your media file into the middle of the app 4. Select the Save Location Click the “change” button at the bottom of the iSquint window. This will pop up a Finder window. Navigate through that until you find the place you want to save the file (the desktop is always a good bet). Select that location. 5. Select Conversion Settings Slect Conversion Settings Make sure that you’ve checked “Optimize for iPod” and then select the “H.264 Encoding” checkbox, as that’s the high-quality iPod video format. Then, you can determine the quality of the encoding. The better the quality, the larger the file, of course. Now,click the “Start” button at he bottom of the window. iSquint Tips: Always check “H.264 Encoding”. If your video originally came from a camcorder (not a digital camera) click “Advanced” and check “Deinterlace”.
