  • Need help with Apple TV + WAN Network Hi, this really more of a usability question, but I didn't know of a better way to contact you. My name is Justin Lee - I'm a video producer in Atlanta, Ga. I have an application that I would like to use several Apple TVs for, but I'm not sure how workable this project is. Any help or suggestions you might offer would be greatly appreciated.

I have a client that has several hours of training videos that they would like to distribute to several of their stores (150+). They currently use DVDs for distribution, but they often update the videos and have to mail several supplemental DVDs each year to replace outdated ones, hence they would like to create a system that hosts one master library of files that can be synced to 150+ devices across the internet. The discussion started with using iPods, but I think Apple TVs might be a better solution.

My thought is that I could host a master iTunes library on a server with a fixed IP address and have several Apple TV units sync to the remote library.

The dilemma is how to make the master iTunes library discoverable by Apple TV units at remote locations. My understanding is that Apple TVs use Bonjour to discover iTunes libraries. Is it possible to make Bonjour work across the WAN?

Apologies if I've posted to the wrong place, but I'd appreciate any input you may have.

    Thanks!

    Justin

  • I NEED the Apple TV!!!! Hi; my name is Bridge Leigh. I deserve an Apple TV because I would take perfect care of it and I work very hard in school and make all A’s. I’m shooting for a scholarship to somewhere in New York. I want to go to Julliard. We have 2 televisions that we actually use often. My parents are older in their late 50’s. They would be happier as well with an extra help on the television. We are occasionally gone, but we wouldn’t have to worry about missing shows, because we could then just buy it on iTunes. Also, we have no way to play movies but a VCR upstairs that usually doesn’t work. Also, in my father’s room, his VCR is all busted up. In my town of Hernando, we have no movie rental places except for our library and video rental store. The library has all DVD’s. We have no player. At the rental store, it costs more than $5 for each VHS. Also, there are hardly any VHS’s. It’s mostly DVD’s. You must see my point that my family needs an Apple TV. It would really mean a lot to me. My entire family would love it.

  • Apple TV Giveaway I believe I deserve an AppleTV because I am a senior just about to graduate from High School. While in school I studied electronics and computers. I graduated from the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute with the highest level of achievement possible. I will be attending the Lehigh Carbon Community College to study electronics and film production. Because I am involved in the study of electronics it is important to be “up” with the latest technology and the AppleTV is definitely “up”. I have been a die hard Apple user for a least 10 years. I have more macs than I do fingers and toes. The fact of the matter is that I always want the newest Apple gadget possible. But who wouldn't? I will soon be buying a Macbook Pro to help with my schoolwork. When I need to present a film project that I have made as a school assignment I will be able to do this with the AppleTV. Not only will I be able to present my own project but I will display my other classmates works as well. I hope you see the usefulness of the AppleTV in my possession and that it will not only be used for leisure but to help me with the daily tasks my school requires. I believe an AppleTV will help me excel at my schoolwork instead of being the “average student”.

  • Apple TV won't boot up, won't restore I hope you can help.

I recently updated Apple TV to the latest software (2.3). It was working fine and i rented a film last week, however, i switched it on this weekend and it seems to reboot 2 times before starting up in the recovery menu (select a language and then choose from reboot, run diagnostics and restore to factory settings).

Trying reboot brings me back to the same recovery menu.

Running diagnostics says its working properly.

Restore to factory settings does not work - it shows an error message saying unable to restore to factory settings or similar.

    It's out of warranty.

    I fear this is terminal.

Any help / advice much appreciated.

  • Put/Play Blu-ray DVD and HD video to Apple TV
Apple TV works somewhat like NAS and helps us store various videos for playing on HD TV via HDMI. With the 160GB hard drive and up to 200-hour capacity for video playback, we can enjoy movies without interruptions like sudden crash. Apple iTunes provides rental services at low prices. However, we could not directly put the TV shows we have on TiVo and the Blu-ray movies and DVD movies on discs to Apple TV.

Apple TV does not support Blu-ray disc and DVD disc, neither the TiVo video. Here I would like to share with you the best Blu-ray and HD video to Apple TV tool I used to enrich my Apple TV with my savings. It does not only works for my Blu-ray disc, DVD disc and TiVo video, but also my camcorder videos in .m2ts format. You will find Aunsoft iMedia Converter for Mac the all-in-one converter for Apple TV.
Step 1. Load Blu-ray DVD and HD video to Aunsoft iMedia Converter for Mac.
Run Aunsoft iMedia Converter for Mac and click BD/DVD Folder button to load Blu-ray disc or DVD disc, and you can also load HD video like TiVo by clicking Add button.
Step 2. Choose Apple TV MP4 format.
Click the Format option and choose Apple TV > Apple TV H.264 1280x720(*.mp4) for output. It is great that the application includes categories according to different devices. Keeping the large resolution will provide better visual display.

    Tips:
Apple TV supports .mp4, .m4v and .mov in H.264 codec with maximum 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps. While the maximum resolution of .mp4, .m4v and .mov in MPEG-4 codec is 720x432.
Step 3. Convert Blu-ray DVD and HD video to Apple TV MP4.
Click the convert button and the application will start converting BD/DVD and HD video to MP4 for Apple TV.
Once the conversion is finished, add the output video to iTunes and sync video to Apple TV. It is easy to play BD/DVD and HD video with Apple TV on HD TV with Aunsoft iMedia Converter for Mac. Try it yourself.

  • Apple T.V Givaway My name is Lauren. I think that I should win a new Apple T.V because i love the company. I am terrible with technology but can do just about anything with Apple products. I think that having an Apple T.V would also make my life less hectic. I am always doing homework or at a sport or busy in someway. Sometimes I just want to sit down and relax. An Apple T.V would be something big to look forward to after a hard week of work and playing sports. An Apple T.V would help my family as well as me. My sister has softball practices that go until 8:00 at night. She always misses the shows she likes to watch. With an Apple T.V she would be able to record the shows that she is missing and be able to watch them later. My parents both like to watch different shows, at different times. If we had an Apple T.V they cuold each enjoy the shows they want to see and there would be no arguring about the remote. I am graduating from 8th grade this year and I really wanted a new Apple laptop. I would much rather have the T.V after I read about it and saw all of the awsome things that it can do. The apple T.V seems like a huge boost is technology and I really think that me and my family could benifit from it. I would take super good care of the T.V and I would use it all the time. There are only two T.V's in our house and I think that having one in my room would be good for me and for my parents. I am always watching some kind of Pirates of the Caribbean thing on our T.V and they can never watch the news or a certain show. Please put this into consideration for an Apple T.V. If I was to win something as great as this I would be so greatful and I would use it with care and It would be the best T.V i have ever had.~Lauren
